Window tint shade chart

Every shade we cut, side by side: what the road looks like from the driver's seat, and how much of the cabin people can see from outside. Tint is measured in VLT, the share of visible light that gets through, so a lower number is darker.

Window tint shade chart: 70%, 50%, 35%, 15% and 5% tint from inside looking out and outside looking in

What each shade is like

  • 70% Clear: Barely tinted. You get the heat and UV rejection without the darker look.
  • 50% Light: A light smoke. Easy night visibility, noticeably cooler cabin.
  • 35% Classic: Our most popular shade. Dark enough for privacy, still easy to see out at night.
  • 15% Dark: Strong privacy from the outside. Check your state's limit for front windows.
  • 5% Limo: The darkest we cut. Most states only allow it behind the driver.

Your car's glass already blocks some light, and many SUVs and trucks have dark factory privacy glass in the back, so the finished window is a little darker than the film's number. More on choosing: what tint percentage should I get?, how dark can tint be? and the interactive shade guide.
